COM Deprecated

COM Deprecation

In the past AMP SDKs have supported COM and .NET in 32-bit environments.   During 2011 and 2012, AMP saw the need to support both 32-bit and 64-bit development and to unify its development support under .NET.  During the transition, AMP deprecated all of its SDK COM objects.  While the older functionality of our SDKs may still work under COM, they are no longer tested nor guaranteed to do so.  Further, any newer functionality is supported only under .NET.

For example, support for 68 records and credit images in the AX9 LIB SDK are only supported in .NET.  Therefore it’s strongly recommended that all AMP customers convert their COM calls to .NET.

Migrating from COM to .NET

Migrating from the COM object to .NET is relatively simple. All the methods and properties are identical from COM to .NET. You only need to update there references. Here are the steps:

  1. Add the .NET DLL as a reference to your project.
  2. Change your instantiation code to use the .NET object
  3. Copy all runtime files (.dll, .dat and .fnt) from SDK’s bin directory into your application directory.

Refer to the sample code project provided with our SDKs for examples.
